Adding Structure to our Day
I’ve been thinking about adding structure to our day, so we gave it a try today. It turned out to not be the awful thing we thought is was.
First we worked on grammar — use of commas, and common nouns.
Next, we did our assignment for our co-op. This year’s theme is mythology, and tomorrow’s topic is Native American mythology. Our tribe is the Seminole, so we read a bit about them, and found their creation story.
That was enough structure for the morning, so we had lunch. After lunch, kiddo worked on practicing for his orange belt. Testing is Feb. 7.
We then moved on to science from The Young Scientist Club kit 7
This kit is volcanoes, and we were just about to make it erupt when the neighbor kid (ps) knocked on the door. School was out, and he came over to play. We invited him in to watch the eruption. Both boys thought it was very cool. Lava in our own home! Well okay, the vinegar and baking soda version, but still…
I think this structure thing might not be so bad if we keep it light. I’ll be experimenting all week with an actual schedule.
