I’m Kathy — wife, mom, former public school teacher. I met and married my soul mate Bill, when most of my friends already had kids who were about to start high school. Bill was raising his then teen-aged son, Jason. I felt honored that those two guys let me into their lives. That was 16 years ago.
I’m now a homeschool mom to our 12 year old son, and have never regretted our decision to keep him out of school. Homeschooling lets him be himself, and learn in his own way on his own schedule.
I’m loudly, proudly liberal and Bill is (politically and fiscally, but not socially) conservative. We follow no particular religious doctrine, and believe in “live and let live”.
In addition to Bill, Dennis, and me, our household also includes a sweet, adorable, 5 year old Shetland Sheepdog, a 14 year old cat who tolerates us all (though we think he secretly likes us), and a 2 year old kitty, adopted as a tiny kitten from the local shelter.
That teenage stepson is now a firefighter/paramedic with the county fire department. In January 2010 he brought a new member to our family by marrying his longtime girlfriend, Sarah (though she really already *was* a part of our family). I can now add mother-in-law to my list of titles.
We are in Central Florida, where winter means getting outdoors as much as possible, and summer means staying in air conditioning unless you’re swimming.
