Who is floridamom?
I’m Kathy — wife, mom, former public school teacher. I met and married my soulmate Bill, when most of my friends already had kids who were about to start high school. Bill was raising his then teenaged son, Jason. I felt honored that those two guys let me into their lives. That was 14 years ago.
I’m now a homeschool mom to our 10 year old son, and have never regretted our decision to keep him out of school. Homeschooling lets him be himself, and learn in his own way on his own schedule.
I’m loudly, proudly liberal and Bill is staunchly conservative. We follow no particular religious doctrine, and believe in “live and let live”.
In addition to Bill, Dennis, and me, our household also includes a sweet, adorable, 4 year old Shetland Sheepdog, and a 13 year old cat who tolerates us all (though we think he secretly likes us). That teenage stepson is now a firefighter/paramedic with the county fire department, and lives with his terrific girlfriend, about a 40 minute drive from our house.
We are in Central Florida, where winter means getting outdoors as much as possible, and summer means staying in air conditioning unless you’re swimming.
